A New Year; Fresh Goals

by John A Carroll

Today is the last day of 2022. I hope you have enjoyed reading the Bible and that you will continue in 2023. If you followed the Concealed and Revealed schedule each day you are finishing up today. But what's next?

Rule of Three.

List the three most important things for you to accomplish this year, then the three most important things to do this week, and this day. This will be a discipline that will take time to master. Often we overestimate what we can do in a day or a week but underestimate what we can do in five years.

Resist the temptation to give up when you only get one or two important things done in a day (or none!). Interruptions come, but if at the end of the day, you still consider the undone things important, roll them over to the next day and pick up where you left off. If you keep your three annual goals in front of you they will help keep you on track as you plan each week and each day.

Meanwhile, let us seek to conform to the vision Paul had for the Thessalonians when he said: "To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Thessalonians 1:11 ESV).

May you have a blessed New Year!
